Coachless Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly still keen to lure Pitso Mosimane back to Mzansi and are preparing a bid ahead of the next season.

A local football publication reports that Chiefs are yet to give up on Mosimane and they are looking to lure the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach back to the DStv Premiership.

The Citizen has it that Chiefs are set to open talks with Mosimane over the head coaching job at the end of the season, a source has revealed to Phakaaathi.

Just before the end of 2023, Mosimane was strongly linked with the Chiefs job, but the former Al-Ahly mentor opted to go to Saudi Arabia to take up a coaching job with Abha Club.

While Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung rubbished the links with Mosimane, the football publication reports that Mosimane is still a preferred candidate by the Naturena-based Chiefs.

“The Chiefs management was happy to hear that Pitso (Mosimane) has signed a short-term deal with that club from Saudi Arabia,” said a source to Phakaaathi.

“Kaizer (Motaung) Senior is a fan of Pitso and when he said some time ago that only two local coaches could coach Chiefs, one of those coaches he was talking about was Pitso.”

As The South African also reported, Mosimane signed a short-term contract with the Saudi Pro League side last week.

On top of that, it seems Chiefs are still keen on having Mosimane as a coach.

It’s also reported that the short-term deal has opened the door for a club like Amakhosi to open talks with him at the end of the season, according to the source.

“With Mosimane preferring to bring his own trusted technical support staff, Chiefs could be forced to let go of some of the technical staff members who have been with the team for many years,” added the publication.

“It remains to be seen if a compromise would be made from both sides for the deal to be concluded.”
