Kaizer Chiefs secures two keepers in preparation for Khune exit

Kaizer Chiefs have rushed to secure two goalkeepers at a time when speculation about Itumeleng Khune’s exit only grows louder.

Last year, Kaizer Chiefs agreed to one final one-year deal with veteran keeper Itumeleng Khune, but after the Amakhosi icon was recently embroiled in an off-field indiscretion, it’s expected that this will be his final season with the club.

It comes at a time when it’s now been confirmed that 29-year-old Brandon Petersen has signed a new contract with the club that will run until June 2026.

NEW DEAL FOR ANOTHER TOP KAIZER CHIEFS KEEPER

Kaizer Chiefs have also successfully executed a contract extension for No 1 keeper Bruce Bvuma.

The Bafana Bafana international has shown impressive form leading up to the AFCON break, and has been rewarded with a new two-year deal extension offer.

WILL ITUMELENG KHUNE PLAY AGAIN FOR AMAKHOSI?

Towards the end of last year, Kaizer Chiefs confirmed in a statement that Itumeleng Khune had been suspended for misconduct after apparently arriving at training smelling of alcohol.

The club have suggested they will seek to support the veteran keeper despite his misdemeanours, and it’s believed that he will be welcomed back to the club after the current Afcon break.

However, it is notable that a report by The Citizen suggests some senior players and others are ready to see the back of Khune, who will see his contract come to an end at the completion of this season.
