Kaizer Chiefs striker set to replace new Pirates marksman
The forgotten Kaizer Chiefs striker could get a new lease on life in the coming weeks after struggling for game time this season.
Kaizer Chiefs striker Tashreeq Morris is set to replace a newly-signed Orlando Pirates marksman at Stellenbosch FC.
The newly-signed marksman is none other Andre de Jong who left Stellies for Pirates in the current transfer window.
Now, Stellies, under the leadership of Gavin Hunt, have approached Chiefs to try and fill the void left by De Jong.
According to a FARPost report, talks between Chiefs and Stellies over Morris’ switch are at an advanced stage.
Should Stellies get the deal over the line, Morris will then reunite with Hunt whom he worked with at the now-defunct SuperSport United.
Hunt did try to lure Morris while he was still coaching Durban City but the deal collapsed before he was sacked in 2025.
KAIZER CHIEFS IN TALKS WITH STELLIES OVER MORRIS’ SWITCH
“Kaizer Chiefs striker Tashreeq Morris is on the verge of a move to Stellenbosch FC, a transfer that would see him reunite with his former mentor, Gavin Hunt, during the January window,” reads part of the report.
“Talks to move Morris to the Winelands side are at an advanced stage. Stellies recently underwent a major coaching change, appointing veteran tactician Gavin Hunt to replace Steve Barker, who departed to join Tanzanian giants Simba SC.”
HOW DID MORRIS FARE AT AMAKHOSI?
Morris joined Amakhosi on a two-and-a-half-year deal in January 2025 from the now-defunct SuperSport United.
However, the 31-year-old striker hasn’t had an impact since his arrival as he’s yet to score for the Soweto giants.
Morris featured in 11 competitive matches for Chiefs without scoring or providing any assist.
