The DStv Premiership is set to return to action this weekend, with Kaizer Chiefs in action.

Chiefs will travel to the Athlone Stadium to play Cape Town City as local football returns from the international break.

This will be the first time Chiefs play in a competitive match, since their 3-2 Soweto derby loss. Because they had been knocked out of the Nedbank Cup by MFC side Milford, they went on a long break. By the time Amakhosi take to the field against City, it would’ve been 21 days since their loss against Orlando Pirates

MAART AND CASTILLO SUSPENDED FOR CHIEFS

Chiefs have played at least one friendly match, in that time, against Nedbank Cup quarterfinalists AmaTuks last week. But soon it will be time to see, exactly what they have been working on in those three weeks without action. But in doing so this weekend, they will be crippled. That is because they will have to face City without regular midfield duo Edson Castillo and captain Yusuf Maart.

That is because the Chiefs duo have been suspended duo to the accumulation of yellow cards received. Maart and Castillo had become the core and spine of Amakhosi line ups under Cavin Johnson. The interim coach found consistency in his selection of a midfield three that contains them and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo

When heading to Cape Town, Chiefs will be looking for revenge after suffering a loss against City last year. In the reverse game on the 3rd of October, it was a 58th minute winner by Khanyisa Mayo that earned the Citizens all three points,

It hasn’t been all doom and gloom for Chiefs against City though, having had a good result in their last Cape Town meeting. In the MTN8, it was Amakhosi who won 3-2 in a match that saw Ashley du Preez and Castillo score. They will be hoping for more of the same again this weekend, even without two key players.
