Louis Koen has been rumoured to be high on the list of candidates shortlisted to replace Rassie Erasmus as SA Rugby’s Director of Rugby.

Springboks coach Rassie Erasmus has left open a key vacancy – SA director of rugby. A well-known Boks legend could be replacing him in this role.

Rassie is now once again the Springboks head coach.

Meaning, SA Rugby needs a new director of rugby. Currently, a widely-respected Springboks legend is a leading candidate for this role.

SPRINGBOKS LEGEND HEADLINES LIST OF CANDIDATES TO REPLACE RASSIE ERASMUS

Currently. ex-Springboks flyhallf, Louis Koen, leads the list of candidates, according to SARugbyMag.

Moreover, he is currently the head coach of South Africa’s women’s team.

Koen is the man that is currently favored to take up this huge vacancy with SA rugby in search of a ‘new head of rugby’

According to Rapport, SA Rugby will appoint a “head of rugby” to fill in Rassie’s footsteps. He/she will be responsible for ensuring for cultivating the unique style and brand of SA Rugby across clubs.

NEXT DIRECTOR/HEAD OF SA RUGBY HAS BIG BOOTS TO FILL

Whoever is appointed to take over from Erasmus’ will have some pretty big boots to fill.

During his tenure as director of rugby, the Springboks won the British & Irish Lions series and successfully defended their Rugby World Cup title. Furthermore, the Stormers won the URC in their first year of being involved in the competition.

Therefore, Rassie has transformed SA Rugby during his time at the helm. Strongly building on from what he achieved as head coach (a 2019 Rugby Championship and Rugby World Cup title that same year). Koen is no stranger to SA Rugby as a coach and former player himself.
