Mamelodi Sundowns kick-off their CAF Champions League against Burundian side Bumamuru on Friday in the first leg match of the second preliminary round.

The Brazilians are unbeaten so far having played eight matches across all competitions this season, recording seven wins and a draw, while scoring 15 goals in the process.

In their last match, Sundowns played to 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs in the MTN8 first leg.

Rulani Mokwena and his team now turn their attention to Bumamuru.

“They present a formidable challenge. Despite being a relatively new team, having been established for just nine years, their ambitions are pretty impressive. They clinched the league championship in Burundi last season and boast several players with significant international experience. Therefore, we do not underestimate them at all.

“It is imperative that we operate at full strength. We have several key players returning from injury and their integration into the team is crucial,” said the Sundowns coach.

Additionally, we aim to score goals to make things easier in the return leg, as reaching the group stages of this prestigious competition is of utmost importance to us. Moreover, our objective is also to complete the game without any injuries, given our busy schedule ahead. We must be fully prepared to ensure we achieve the desired result.”
