One cap Springbok players still playing locally
In our continued article series, we take a look at players who have earned one Springbok cap, but who are still playing competitively.
Earlier this week, we took a closer look at the solitary Springbok Test that had been played by flyhalf Robert du Preez, who is currently plying his trade in England for the Sale Sharks – where he has been since 2019.

There is a lengthy list of players who have retired after earning just one cap for the Springboks, but there are also a few who are still playing professionally as they seek to add to that solitary appearance at international level.

WHO ARE THE ONE CAP SPRINGBOK PLAYERS WHO ARE STILL PLAYING?
Rohan Janse van Rensburg
Janse van Rensburg will be remembered in the green and gold for his appearance for the Springboks XV in a non-cap friendly against Barbarians XV in which he scored a last-gasp try to secure a 31-31 draw.
He was later included in the Springboks’ squad for their 2016 end of year tour, starting in his one and only Test against Wales in Cardiff, which the Springboks lost 13-27.
This appearance came in a year when Janse van Rensburg was in sensational form for the Lions, with many fans having called for him to feature for more regularly for the Springboks.
However, the burly centre ultimately fell out of the Springbok mix, and would eventually leave the Lions in 2018 to head to England where he played regularly for their Sale Sharks club.

Last year, the 29-year-old return to South Africa to join the Durban-based Sharks, but he has failed to find the sort of form and fitness that would bring him back onto the Bok radar.
During his early rugby days, Janse van Rensburg was included in the S.A. Schools squad in 2012 and the South Africa Under-20 squad for the 2013 and 2014 Junior World Championship tournaments.

With age still on his side, it remains to be seen whether Janse van Rensburg could possibly get back to his best in order to reignite his Springbok prospects.
