Pirates signed two players in the January transfer window, in Thabiso Lebitso and Talent Mbatha but might add another.

This comes after the news that, long-term Shaune Mogaila is now available on a free transfer. The speedy winger recently parted ways with former club Royal AM. It is reported the split came after the two parties could not agree on a improved terms for a new deal. Waiting on the wings, is believed to Pirates, who are club wanted the player even before he joined the Durbanites. Now according to sources speaking to Soccer-Laduma The Buccaneers are close to wrapping up the deal for next season.

MOGAILA TO ORLANDO PIRATES ALMOST DONE?

“Now that he is released, Pirates have a great chance to sign him but apparently they will wait until the end of the season. Their reasoning is that they already signed players in January and they don’t want to just overload the team at the moment with just a few months before the end of the season. However they seem to be talking to the player and his representatives for the July transfer window though he is a free agent right now. But they want to wait for the end of the season,” said one source.

A second source went as far as saying Mogaila’s move to Pirates is almost done.

“Why they want to wait for the end of the season is because they want to open up some space. This by either releasing other players or loaning others out and bring in new players. Shaune (Mogaila) is one of the players set for an end of season move. It’s almost a done deal but you know there are other loose ends which need to be tied. Then everything falls into place but things will happen in July,” said the source.

With all of those options at their disposal, it remains to be seen if Pirates will go for Mogaila. It might really make sense to wait until the end of the season to offload some players before signing him.
