Kaizer Chiefs take on Orlando Pirates in the first Soweto Derby of the season at FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Kick-off is scheduled for 15:30.

This will also mark the first Soweto Derby for Amakhosi’s co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze as well as Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Of course, both Ben Youssef and Kaze have had the taste of the Soweto Derby having previously been on the bench as Nasreddine Nabi’s assistants.

Now, SA People looks back at coaches who had the privilege of coaching both Chiefs and Pirates over the years.

It is worth mentioning that this is very rare given the rivalry between Amakhosi and the Buccaneers.

There are only six of those who had the chance to coach both Chiefs and Pirates, with Vladimir Vermezovic being the last one.

WHY THIS IS MORE ABOUT POINTS THAN BRAGGING RIGHTS

This one-day event is certainly more about the points than bragging rights for both Chiefs and Pirates.

And that’s because the two teams are dubbed ‘title contenders’ with Pirates on 38 points from 17 games.

Amakhosi, on the other hand, are placed fourth on the standings with 30 points from 16 league games.
