Former Orlando Pirates star Thembinkosi Lorch has started to look familiar in Mamelodi Sundowns colours. Here’s a parting message from his former captain, Tapelo Xoki.

THEMBKOSI LORCH LEAVES ORLANDO PIRATES FOR MAMELODI SUNDOWNS

The date was 26 January. The Sea Robbers announced the departure of the 30-year-old attacker to Sundowns.

“Thembinkosi Lorch is to leave Orlando Pirates Football Club after a discussion between the chairman, Dr Irvin Khoza, and the Mamelodi Sundowns hierarchy,” Pirates reported.

“The club thanks ‘Nyoso’ for his immense contribution by adding another page in the history of the club. We wish him and his family well in his future sporting pursuit,” the statement concluded.

A MESSAGE FROM TAPELO XOKI

Meanwhile, Pirates captain Xoki has responded to the news before wishing Lorch the best at his new club.

“It was big news to everyone at the club but we have to take it on the chin, it’s football, and such things happen,” Xoki said via iDiski Times.

“In every transfer window, it opens the opportunity for such movements to happen. We wish him well, he was great for us, he’s won [trophies] with us, he’s helped us win, so we can only wish him well wherever he goes [with his career].

“You know where he is now. But we need to make sure we move on from it, as quickly as we can, because we have a second round in the league where we need points, there’s a cup to play for – so we have to take our focus to all of those games we’re gonna face,” the Pirates central defender from Cape Town’s Khayelitsha concluded.

Meanwhile, the Soweto giants will take on Polokwane City this weekend.
