According to the OTP data for 2025, punctuality in aviation is measured through the percentage of flights that arrive or depart within fifteen minutes of the scheduled time.
In a year marked by growing passenger volumes and shifting weather patterns, both FlySafair and Airlink demonstrated remarkable consistency in meeting tight turnaround schedules and maintaining dependable service standards at South Africa’s major airports.
FlySafair continued to set the national benchmark for punctuality throughout 2025. At O.R. Tambo International Airport, the airline achieved a 90.31 percent OTP in September, well above the airport’s 87 percent target. Its performance was even stronger in Cape Town, where 93.14 percent of flights operated on schedule, and at King Shaka International, where it reached 91.97 percent.
Right behind FlySafair was Airlink, which maintained an equally impressive track record. In September 2025, Airlink achieved 87.50 percent OTP at O.R. Tambo, 92.16 percent in Cape Town, and an exceptional 95.42 percent at King Shaka International, one of the highest punctuality figures in the country that month.
