Independently owned Lift Airline is not a conventional type of budget carrier.

It is often at the forefront of exciting and innovative new ideas, which keep passengers coming back for more!

LIFT’S INFLIGHT BOOK LAUNCH

The latest idea Lift has tried out is that of an inflight book launch.

On 9 February Lift passengers on a flight from Johannesburg to Cape Town were treated to a surprise inflight book launch of Love at First Flight, penned by South African author Jo Watson.

AVIATION STORY

The inflight book launch showcased Watson’s new book, which has an aviation theme.

The story is about an air traffic controller who enters a relationship of convenience with a pilot.

“We’re proud to celebrate our local talent, so when we were approached to launch a book with Jo at 36 000ft, our immediate response was ‘let’s do it!’ Providing a platform to Jo, an award-winning South African author, was only a pleasure, as we continue to collaborate and support SA artists and creatives.” -Lift CEO Jonathan Ayache said, per TravelNews.

INNOVATIVE LIFT AIRLINE

The airline launched during the pandemic, amid travel restrictions and sluggish demand for flights. It offers full flexibility and refunds on flights.

It is classified as a budget airline, however, Lift serves free coffees and teas, wines and snacks to all passengers, as well as some exciting surprises by way of its inflight events.

NOVEL IDEAS

Last week, on 14 February, Lift hosted a mile-high fashion show, showcasing attire by local designers.

The Valentine’s Day event had passengers tweeting and sharing thoughts and comments for hours afterwards.

PROUDLY SOUTH AFRICAN

The airline has previously hosted other inflight events including silent discos, album launches, and comedy shows during flights.

Lift Airline is passionate about South Africa and is always eager to showcase local talents.

“We’re passionate about uplifting local talent where we can, as well as providing our travellers with an elevated experience, which they have come to know and love Lift for.” – Ayache said.
