Controversial TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson has poked fun at South Africa’s controversial president in his new show, The Grand Tour (watch the full episode below).

During the filming of the Joburg-based Episode 2, Clarkson delighted the local crowd with references to President Jacob Zuma’s well-documented difficulty with saying long numbers (“listen properly now”) and his Nkandla “fire pool” swimming pool.

When asked for the Rand equivalent of an Aston Martin worth £1.8 million Clarkson responded: “Ten hundred and thirty million and a million.”

Clarkson (56), who rose to fame with Top Gear, has teamed up with hosts Richard Hammond and James May again to produce a show for Amazon, described as three “middle aged-ish men” bantering about their favourite passion, cars.

The Amazon Prime show reportedly has a budget of a whopping £160 million.

On the show they also joked about South Africa’s Hollywood star Charlize Theron and jailed paralympian Oscar Pistorious, saying “There are only two globally famous South Africans. One’s now in a lion [following a scene in the show] and the other is in prison.” The car-fantatics also joked about South Africa’s notoriously high car-jacking epidemic.
