Hi Everyone

Even though we are really busy over the World Cup we wanted to fit in a budget tour for the locals- so we have decided to do another “I Love Newtown Tour” this Wednesday (June 16th). This is a great way to spend a public holiday -its a super chilled walk (coffee stop included!)

We are doing this in conjunction with the Newtown District so it should be fun!

Here are the details:

Newtown Walking Tour – The best of Newtown: past, present and future!

Date:
Wednesday, June 16, 2010
Time:
9:00am – 1:30pm
Location:
Newtown Cultural Precinct

Description

Come with us on a journey through one of Joburgs most interesting cultural and historical areas. We will also look at the future of Newtown and city rejuvenation.

This walking tour, presented by Past Experiences will centre round Newtown’s new Heritage walk.

We will stop at some awesome attractions and sites. These include many of Joburg’s most special places- Mary Fitzgerald Square, Museum Africa – which houses The Bensusan Museum of photography (perfect inspiration for those who like photography). Current art exhibitions include SPace: Currencies in Contemporary African Art, l’Afrique and Pitika Ntuli’s Scent of Invisible Footprints – In Moments of Complexity.

We also visit one of Joburg’s most exciting and new attractions- The Workers’ Museum and a really fun stop at one of Newtown’s most unique and fun offerings- The Sci-Bono Museum. There is an awesome hands on “Science of Soccer” exhibition on at the moment. This will totally get you in the World Cup mood. We will also take a look at public art in the area.

The tour will end at one of Newtown’s many great restaurants where you are free to stay for a drink and/or lunch!

This will really make you love Newtown..although that really is not difficult!!!

Price: R100

Safe parking available behind Museum Africa in the Market Theatre complex parking area off Miriam Makeba.

This is our favourite new tour!
