Many South Africans waited patiently tonight – Monday 14 November 2016 – to photograph  the biggest, brightest Super Moon (Supermoon) in 68 years…

But in KwaZulu-Natal it was bad news for Supermoon spotters… but good news for rhinos as it rained (meaning the poachers couldn’t use the bright light to find rhinos at night). And in Gauteng a thunderstorm brought beautiful – but clouded – skies, and the super moon was not visible for a long time…

Until finally it peeped through, between the clouds, and those who had waited were rewarded…

For those who didn’t see it early enough in the evening (the first two hours and last two hours are the best colours), it didn’t seem as huge, as bright or as orange as they’d expected…
