Bishops College has paid a moving tribute on Wednesday in support of first XV Rugby Coach, Richard Smith, who has been hospitalised following a ‘home-invasion’ in Cape Town, South Africa.

Bishops Rugby said on Tuesday: “On behalf of the Bishops Rugby community, we ask you to please keep our 1st XV Coach Richard Smith and his family in your prayers.

“Following a robbery at their home, Richard has suffered a severe head injury and is being treated in hospital.

“Thoughts and prayers with the Smith family at this time.”

According to a report by SARugbymag, there were four intruders and Richard was stabbed in the head.

On Wednesday afternoon, his wife Nina updated her cover photo with a picture of the family (including children Lara and Seb), and said: “Please please come home to us❤️❤️❤️❤️.”

On Richard Smith’s own facebook page, he (or someone administering his page) wrote: “Thank you Bishops from the bottom of my heart. Pray for us…..”
