The motion of no confidence in Mayor Herman Mashaba has been defeated on Thursday evening in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Mashaba tweeted minutes ago, just after the announcement: “Frivolous motion against change defeated in Council. Today, the Council upheld the will of Johannesburg’s residents by voting against the ANC’s motion of no confidence in the Speaker of Council, Councillor Vasco da Gama, and myself.”
The Democratic Alliance (DA) announced: “The motion of no confidence against @HermanMashaba has been defeated. He will remain Mayor of the City of Johannesburg. Let good clean governance continue!”
