SA Football Appoints its First Female Vice President

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has officially appointed Ria Ledwaba – along with Xolile Nkompela and Gay Mokoena – as the SAFA vice-presidents. The appointments were made at the National Executive Committee (NEC) in Polokwane on Sunday.

The three have served on SAFA in the past and they will work under reappointed Danny Jordaan.

Ledwaba makes history as the first woman to be voted vice-president of the South African association.

Ledwaba said she was humbled for being entrusted with such an enormous position and will serve football as diligently as she has done in the past.

Ledwaba is the former owner of Ria Stars Football Club.

Meanwhile Mokoena is also a seasoned campaigner with business interests across the country.

Mokoena and Ledwaba will be replacing Lucas Nhlapo and Elvis Shisana, while Nkompela maintains his position.

Many South Africans took to social media to congratulate Ria Ledwaba on her historic appointment.
