Metrorail Sabotage

With 39 train carriages set alight and destroyed in just the last four months, Cape Town’s Metrorail is under siege and it will cost R51 million to recover from the damage. Since 2015, 149 carriages have been destroyed and now only eight trains remain to carry thousands of people to work, crippling the Western Cape economy. Investigators believe that there is a sustained campaign to sabotage the city’s rail system. Carte Blanche investigates. (Producer: Liz Fish, Presenter: Derek Watts)
