WATCH South Africans Try Sweden’s Famous Fish with Hilarious Results

Watch this group of South Africans try some Surströmming – one of the smelliest fish in the world!

Even the Japanese, who have their own famous fermented fish dish (kusaya), say – according to a study – that a newly opened can of surströmming has “one of the most putrid food smells in the world”, stronger than their own.

The can contains lightly-salted fermented Baltic Sea herring. Apparently just enough salt is used to prevent the raw herring from rotting… although judging by the South Africans’ reactions, it’s definitely not enough!
