Snow started falling in the early hours of this morning at Semonkong Lodge and continued falling until around midday on Saturday as the cold front made landfall in Lesotho.
The lodge is expecting approximately 10cm of snow! The current temperature is 0 degrees Celsius, which is a lot warmer than the higher points in Lesotho.
This year Lesotho has received far more snow than last year… to the absolute delight of the staff and guests at the lodge this weekend!
Afriski Mountain Resort
Meanwhile, the winds started to pick up from yesterday afternoon and this morning the team at Afriski Mountain Resort in Lesotho woke up to a blizzard.
The resort was expecting about 2cm worth of snow and possibly more at higher points.
The wind is gale force and the wind chill this morning was a very cool -15 degrees Celsius, with it expected to drop to -25! For this reason, the resort has advised guests to postpone their stay to next weekend as the extreme winds and cold will cause the roads to ice over, making it extremely dangerous to drive up Moteng Pass.
