South African Duo's award-winning film 'Kingdoms of Fire, Ice & Fairy Tales' to Make European Broadcast Premiere.

The exquisitely filmed ‘Kingdoms of Fire, Ice & Fairy Tales’ will make its European broadcast premiere tomorrow evening (Friday 5 March). The film was created by well known South African duo – director Susan Scott and presenter Bonné de Bod, the talented filmmakers behind multi award-winning anti-rhino documentary ‘STROOP, Journey into the Rhino Horn War’.

Contes de feu Kingdoms of Fire
The Kingdoms of Fire, Ice & Fairy Tales documentary will air at 8pm (20h00) on 4 March in both France and Germany in both languages, in primetime on ARTE as ‘Contes de Fée, de Feu et de Glace’.

Scott and De Bod said in a press release on Thursday that they were “thrilled” to announce the European premiere of this, their second film… an enchanting investigative film, featuring some of Earth’s most epic wild spaces.

Kingdoms of Fire, Ice & Fairy Tales (available to view on Showmax in SA and to international subscribers) has already scooped several global accolades around the world, including an Award of Excellence from Impact DOCS’ for De Bod’s on-screen presenting and narration.

Acclaimed film critic Leon van Nierop said:

“Kingdoms is breathtaking, but it is the enthusiasm and respect with which Bonné de Bod observes nature, that makes it so remarkable. The way in which she almost becomes one with the landscapes, is what is the driving force behind this film.”

The film takes place in pristine wildernesses ranging from the world’s greatest national park, Yellowstone to the iconic Black Forest and then to the frozen lands of the Arctic Circle. Kingdoms was also awarded Best Travel/Nature Documentary at the New York Cinematography Awards; and was selected for several international film festivals.

In further good news, the two South African women are currently on location filming a follow-up to Kingdoms!

De Bod and Scott say their partnership with Multichoice in Africa, and now ARTE in Europe “gives the Kingdoms films a larger audience to showcase the beauty of the planet and hopefully inspire these audiences to connect further with nature.”
