Sadly, you could become a victim of pet theft, which is becoming a bigger problem as the economy goes up and down.

While it’s hard to understand why people steal dogs, there are a few reasons that might help you understand.

POSSIBLE REASONS WHY PEOPLE STEAL DOGS

Some people steal dogs because they are aware that families would offer a big reward for their “safe return”.

A more distressing outcome for your dog is being taken to be used as bait dogs or trained for dog fights.

Pit Bull Terriers, Doberman Pinschers, and German Shepherds are the most commonly targeted.

You may not have anticipated that the breed you selected could increase the likelihood of dog theft, but it does play a role.

Purebred dogs are often targeted for theft because of their valuable pedigrees.

Thieves find it relatively easy to make quick cash without facing significant repercussions.

The dognapper can sell the stolen dog for a price lower than that of a reputable breeder and still make a considerable profit.

People who steal dogs from their families are not considering the well-being of the dogs.
