The African National Congress (ANC) has a jobs plan to fight unemployment amongst the youth and those over 35.

President Cyril Ramaphosa revealed this as he launched the party’s election manifesto at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, 24 February.

ANC SAYS IT HAS A PLAN TO FIGHT UNEMPLOYMENT

Thousands of ANC supporters painted the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban yellow as the party prepares for the upcoming elections.

President Cyril Ramaphosa led the party’s manifesto launch, highlighting how they plan to address some of the socio-economic issues South Africans are grappling with.

During his address, Ramaphosa said the ANC’s top priority is ensuring that South Africans work.

“The unemployment rate in our country continues to be a real problem. This is especially true among young people over 35 years,” he said.

Furthermore, the President said no shortage of work needs to be done; people are ready and willing to work.

“The ANC will implement a jobs plan over the next five years. We will sustain and create 2.5 million work opportunities delivering public goods and services in communities.

“This includes work done through the Presidential Employment Stimulus, funding to civil society through non-profit companies and organisations to provide work opportunities,” he added.
