Springboks star Makazole Mapimpi was given a hero’s welcome when he seemingly made his first public appearance after his return from the 2023 Rugby World Cup in the backdrop of his injury.

Jubilant shoppers and employees gave Springboks star Makazole Mapimpi an emotional Gwijo welcome during a grocery run at a Spar in East London.

SPRINGBOKS STAR MAKAZOLE MAPIMPI GETS AN EMOTIONAL WELCOME

The shoppers and employees serenaded Mampipi with Gwijo while he was paying for his groceries at the till.

The video has undoubtedly gained thousands of comments and reactions since it dropped on the internet. In the backdrop of the priceless moment, the Springboks star joined the fans.

INJURY SCARE

Mzansi has since flooded social media with their two cents in reaction to the now-viral video. Despite good play during the 2023 Rugby World Cup, Mapimpi left the Springboks camp after sustaining a nasty injury during the Boks pool stage win against Tonga.

The star sustained a fractured eye socket and had to be replaced by Lukhanyo AM, who is yet to feature for Jacques Nienaber’s side in France.

However, despite his injury, SA Rugby director of rugby Rassie Erasmus confirmed that Makazole Mapimpi is out for four to six weeks. 

In the backdrop of his return, he has been keeping his private life under wraps, leaving many to guess about his whereabouts and health updates. Undoubtedly, his first public appearance has thrust him into the top trends.
