Roger Federer: Mzansi loving his celebrations with the Boks

Roger Federer showed his proudly South African colours as he celebrated the Springbok’s Rugby World Cup final win.

Although the Rugby World Cup Final was a star-studded affair, tennis legend Roger Federer caught the attention of South Africans as he celebrated with the winning team.

Federer, who was born to a South African mother and holds dual South African and Swiss nationality, was in the crowd as the Springboks edged out New Zealand to win the Rugby World Cup for the fourth time. 

ROGER FEDERER IN FULL VOICE AS HE CELEBRATES THE BOKS 

While some celebrities might have simply wanted to watch the game for the spectacle, Federer made it clear from the start which horse he was backing. The 42-year-old kicked off the weekend’s action by wishing the Springboks luck ahead of their encounter with the All Blacks.

On the day, Federer could be seen in the South African section of the Stade De France sporting a coat with a visibly South African scarf. He shared the emotions of the game with the fans and shortly after the final whistle, he joined the Boks in the team’s changing room to celebrate with the winning players.

Roger’s mother, Lynette Federer along with his wife and children were all in high spirits as they cheered South Africa to a narrow 11-12 victory on the day.

MZANSI LOVES “SA CITIZEN” FEDERER 

Fans were not just happy to see Roger Federer cheering the Boks, but it was a reminder of how affectionate the ex-Tennis-professional is towards his mother’s home nation.

One fan wrote on X, “The Greatest Tennis Player ever meet the Greatest Team ever. Yes, contrast in style. Federer is pure class and beauty. The Boks is Brute! Thank you Federer for this great sporting touch.”

Another fan couldn’t get enough of his patriotism and shared a comment saying, “Roger Federer deserves a South African citizenship. He is one of us!”
