2 Scotties from Sudan need urgent help returning to South Africa

Two adorable and much loved Scottish Terrier dogs need urgent help to return safely to South African from Sudan.

Amanda-Leigh Robinson says in her latest update (posted Sunday morning) that their human dad, Adam, has finally managed to get his “two furry family members to safety” after a nightmare few days. However they are currently in no man’s land and the cost of a flight is exorbitant.

“I am trying to see if GOTG (Gift of the Givers) has another evac flight, if not, we will need to do some serious fund raising to get this brave man and the Scotties back to South Africa,” says Amanda-Leigh.

Adam courageously stayed behind in Sudan when his family took the evacuation flight out.

”He was not leaving those precious pups behind, even though the odds were against him getting them out,” says Amanda-Leigh.

”We are so close to getting this family reunited again. We urgently need to find pet friendly accommodation for him and the pups in ASWAN until plans can be made to fly them out.”

What Adam and the pups need right now

• Accommodation – Amanda-Leigh and others helping have sent a couple of pet friendly hotels details, and are waiting to hear if any can assist. Adam needs pet-friendly accommodation in Aswan.
• Transport to Cairo: Adam and the pups need a flight. A message has been left with GOTG.

Amanda-Leigh says: “We have contacted every agency/airline we can find, but the costs are ridiculous.* If anyone has a contact with an airline where we can negotiate a discounted rate, pls let me know.” *According to one quote it could cost as much as R27,000.

Amanda-Leigh also thanked  Amanda from the Department of Agriculture who has issued a special dispensation to get the dogs back without all the usual red tape.

Latest Update Sunday night: Amanda-Leigh told SAPeople: “We arranged accommodation for him and the pups, but sadly Adam was turned away when he arrived. Through rescue friends another guest house has made space, and he is en route, both he and the pups are in desperate need of a shower he says.”
