In our previous Keizer Chiefs article, the writer did not mince his words when he indicated that “football politics are too heavy to handle“… writes Godfrey Sigwela.

The writer referred to Amakhosi being one example of a team likely to be trapped in those football politics.

Look what had happened at Naturena. Coach Zwane was ‘fired’ and replaced by someone who has been working for Kaizer Chiefs behind the scenes in the form of Molefi Ntseki. (Ntseki was last night named as the club’s new head coach with Zwane as assistant coach.)

Ntseki apparently has no experience in coaching the senior team. However, the science of football just needs ideas and innovation.

For instance, many soccer teams in the townships have no coaches, except many voices from the fans advising the players.

Believe it or not, coach Arthur Zwane was unable to handle internal organisational politics at Naturena. With all the work Zwane did at Naturena, he was scrutinised through the eye of a needle.

If Ntseki was the right candidate to replace Zwane, why were the two gentlemen not paired together early last season?

It looks strange to have someone working behind the scenes and duplicating the job of the other person who is currently working in the public eye. And then give an analysis of the work done by the other person working in public.

It would be better if Ntseki and Zwane could work together. It is a good idea to give local coaches a chance to explore and apply the homebase strategies.

One is wondering how Amakhosi supporters and other soccer fanatics are thinking. Based on the work Ntseki did in juniors development, indeed he has a potential to build the glamour boys.

But his appointment as Kaizer Chiefs coach revolves around football politics. His job has been made difficult by the Kaizer Chiefs management.

Firstly he will be facing dozens of questions about his ability to bring trophies to Naturena. Secondly, he must speed up assembling a winning side right from the opening of the season in August.

Nevertheless, Amakhosi fans remain disappointed. Moreover they were hoping to see Pitso joining the glamour boys.
