With the rand taking a bit of a beating, South African travellers will be doing some serious soul-searching about their overseas holiday plans. But we’ve got great news for you!

According to Antoinette Turner, GM Flight Centre South Africa, there are “plenty of countries where you can get great bang for your buck. Think affordable food, accommodation, and even a few luxuries thrown in. You can also save by heading to countries that don’t require you to get a visa, as the fees can really add up.”

Additionally, there are encouraging indications that the inflationary impact on tourism will lessen. The FCM Consulting Global Quarterly Trend Report Q1 forecasts a decline in high global inflation rates, projecting a decrease from 8.8% in 2022 to 6.6% in 2023 and further down to 4.3% in 2024 – good news for those travelling on the rand.

Turner recommends the following destinations for South Africans looking for value in foreign travel.
