Mega Turnout for South African Heritage Day Get-Together in London, UK

South Africans living in the UK gathered together in Wimbledon Park on Sunday, to celebrate SA’s Heritage Day… to sing, dance, braai and open-heartedly celebrate the country they still call ‘home’.

It was a fantastic turn-out for the event, organised by Francine Higham and the Diaspora committee. Well known South African expat Hayley Reichert captured these fantastic photos and video that show what an awesome jol it was for everyone there.

Hayley and friends seen last year. This is the event’s third year. ‘In Africa there is a concept known as ‘ubuntu’ – the profound sense that we are human only through the humanity of others; that if we are to accomplish anything in this world it will in equal measure be due to the work and achievement of others.’ – Nelson Mandela

This was the third year the event was held… and was its biggest ever, thanks to official sponsor – SHOWMAX – who made sure there was lots of great SA entertainment and gees.

There were also stalls selling SA food and crafts from boerewors and biltong to samoosas and SA wine, SA flag accessories and jewellery.
