The Chief in Commander, Julius Malema, of the South African Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) will be sworn in as a member of the Pan African Parliament (PAP), together with four other SA Members of Parliament (MPs).

The swearing in of the five will take place during the Opening Ceremony of the 6th Ordinary Session of the PAP today – Monday 7 May 2018 – in Midrand, Johannesburg. The session runs from 7 – 18 May.

The four other MPs are: National Council of Provinces (NCOP) Chairperson Thandi Modise, the National Assembly’s House Chairperson for Internal Arrangements Thoko Didiza, Mandlesizwe Zweliveli Mandela and Santosh Vinita Kalyan.

The five will be replacing Hunadi Mateme‚ Thandi Memela‚ Charles Nqakula and Floyd Shivambu while Kalyan will serve another two-year term.

These MPs were all nominated by Parliament to be part of PAP and act on behalf of Parliament by the National Assembly and NCOP on October 23 and 24.

The Pan African Parliament is the legislative organ of the Africa Union. Its mission is to ensure the full participation of African peoples in the development and economic integration of the continent.
