Kaizer Chiefs have been dealt a massive blow as far as their transfer targets are concerned as Cape Town City striker Khanyisa Mayo signs a new deal.
Mayo has been targeted by Chiefs as they looked to bolster their strikeforce but it seems they will not sign him anytime soon.
The Citizens took to Twitter to announce the news of Mayo extending his current contract as coach Eric Tinkler looks to fight for trophies next season.
CHIEFS TARGET MAYO SIGNS LONG-TERM DEAL AT CITY
The left-footed attacker has been a subject of media speculation and that emerged as Chiefs were reportedly chasing his signature.
Mayo has just completed a stellar season in which he scored 12 goals and finished as joint Premier Soccer League top goal-scorer with Mamelodi Sundowns forward Peter Shalulile.
In an exclusive interview with his father, Patrick, the former Amakhosi player revealed that there are no concrete offers from the Soweto giants, saying that he would not mind seeing his son join his former club.

On top of his achievements this previous term, Mayo was announced as City’s Player of the Season in his second term playing top-flight football.
“Cape Town City is delighted to confirm that Khanyisa Mayo has signed a new long-term contract with the Citizens,” announced City.
WILL CHIEFS BREAK THE BANK TO SIGN MAYO?
As things stand, Chiefs will have to dig deep into their pockets if they are still keen to sign the Gqeberha-born star player.
If Chiefs are serious about the Bafana star, it is to be seen if they are willing to pay a huge transfer figure for the striker City are reluctant to lose.
On the other hand, Sundowns were also reportedly keen on landing the Bafana Bafana striker and media reports suggested that the DStv Premiership champions were ready to fork out millions.
However, it remains to be seen if the two PSL bigshots, Chiefs and Sundowns, will still continue with their pursuit of Mayo who has just signed a long-term deal in the Mother City.
