Last night an entrepreneurial South African’s team in the UK delivered another 200 meals to St George’s Hospital Critical Care Nurses… feeding the nurses on the frontline of the UK’s fight against the coronavirus (COVID-19).

South African entrepreneur James Durrant, co-founder and director of Blue Sky Publications and of London-based Mustard Foods, says he and his team have become key workers providing a public service during London’s lockdown.

The company is feeding NHS health workers while also providing home deliveries of frozen food meals to “vulnerable isolated individuals and families, and supporting retailers with excess demand”, according to Durrant.

Durrant says: “This is a far cry in (the) volume and focus we had 10 days ago producing 140 tonnes of food a month for the restaurant sector.”

Mustard Foods usually offers innovative and bespoke food products to several restaurant groups in the United Kingdom and Europe. But with the current lockdown and closed borders they have had to become innovative to keep as many staff employed as possible.

Durrant has called on people in London to support his company by ordering more of their cost price home deliveries “so that we can continue our support of frontline and essential workers in our community”… and also “get more people back to work”.
