Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi is shining at the Miss Universe contest! Watch below as she steps onto the stage in a gorgeous gown. But first, here she is on Saturday in Atlanta, USA, in the national costume competition: UPDATE: Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi (Zozi) has WON the Miss Universe 2019 competition.
The “Wave of Love” costume caused a bit of controversy in South Africa, when Zozi revealed it at a Sandton event… with some thinking it was over the top. BUT South Africa’s beauty queen fitted right in with the other contestants, many of whom were wearing even louder, larger costumes.
Zozi’s costume was designed by Lloyd Kandlin of The Costume Department, and shows the Eastern Cape’s Zozi “adorned in love letters written for the women of South Africa”. (Zozi had asked SA men to write the letters as part of her #HeForShe campaign raising awareness against gender-based abuse).

Missosology South Africa said: “SOUTH AFRICA!!! Stand up. I’m crying @official_misssa organisation pulled all the stops and I am here for it. Zozi did not have to do much because this GOWN is INSANE!!! Give this girl her crown already.”
One SA fan, Zabelo Hlabisa, said: “The way she entered the stage took me straight to heaven ???????????”
Many South African fans say Zozi is a natural who should definitely win the Miss Universe title!
