In the popular radio show hosted by Redi Tlhabi on 702, an 11-year-old named Mulanga this week called in to comment on the latest events in government, and said that “what Jacob Zuma is doing is a joke”.

Tlhabi said Mulanga was the best caller she’d had this year and she was proud of her and impressed that as young as Mulanga was, she was thinking about her country and she clearly loved South Africa.

“Yes I do,” Mulanga replied.

The youngster from Midrand, sounding slightly emotional as she spoke, told Tlhabi, “I don’t know what is going to happen to my future if the world is going to fall like this.”

“He thinks for himself,” she said about Zuma, “who does that?”

Tlhabi asked Mulanga if she understood what was happening with Zuma at the moment, and she said she did.

“A good leader is supposed to have courage,” Mulanga said. “He is supposed to show us the things that we are supposed to do in order for us to succeed. But what he is doing is playing around.”

“When Madiba was alive we were happy, we were free, we were rejoicing. But right now I have no idea what is going on.”
