Last week, Kaizer Chiefs announced that Molefi Ntseki was replacing Arthur Zwane on the hot seat ahead of the 2023/24 DStv Premiership.

Fans have already made it clear on how they feel about the former Bafana Bafana coach being at the helm. Chiefs supporters were expecting Amakhosi to announce Tunisian coach Nasreddine Nabi, who was linked with the club for months, but apparently the deal went off forcing the club to look at other options.

Ntseki is not new to Chiefs, having led the club’s technical and youth development before he was appointed head coach.

He now finds himself under pressure before the season even kicks-off.

NTSEKI NEEDS TIME TO FIND BALANCE

Should he fail to win the MTN8 and also start the season poorly, more pressure will definitely be on his shoulders before the Christmas break.

Chiefs, however, should not expect miracles with Ntseki.

He is yet to prove himself as a top coach and his record with Bafana Bafana is poor after failing to lead them to the 2021 African Cup of nations. He has experience though at youth level having been part of the South African junior levels for a number of years.

If Chiefs are to improve, they need to have a strong development programme and Ntseki knows which players are ready to transition into the senior squad.

On Monday, Amakhosi confirmed the arrivals of six players; Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, Spiwe Given Msimango, Mduduzi Mdantsane, Edson Daniel Castillo Garcia, Pule Mmodi and Ranga Piniel Chivaviro. The club also mentioned that more players were expected to arrive at Naturena in the coming weeks.

So what does this mean? The club is in a rebuilding phase and rebuilding takes the whole season. One can’t expect Ntseki to get it right in the first season hence he needs at least two seasons.

If he is unable to produce results in his second season, then Chiefs can make a call. For now, the fans and the management need to be patient.
