Home to two fo Africa’s top hotels, a recent study by Henley & Partners found that South Africa is the wealthiest country on the African continent in terms of its high-net-worth individuals – billionaires, centi-millionaires and millionaires.

HIGH-NET-WORTH INDIVIDUALS LOVE THESE SA HOTELS

According to Henley & Partner’s Africa Wealth Report for 2023, Africa is home to 23 billionaires328 centi-millionaires and 138 000 millionaires, with South Africa topping the list for most in all of Africa.

This same study also revealed that certain hotels on the continent was especially favoured by these billionaires, centi-millionaires and millionaires, with two of the favourites even being in South Africa.

THE OYSTER BOX, UMHLANGA, SOUTH AFRICA

The luxurious Oyster Box hotel in Umhlanga ranked as the number one hotel favoured by high-net-worth individuals visiting Africa.

Situated overlooking the Indian Ocean on the Umhlanga beachfront, near Durban, this iconic hotel dates back to the 1950s, when it was a popular spot for Johannesburgers to spend their summers. In 2007, the property was renovated and transformed by Red Carnation Hotels into what it is today — the epitome of luxury.” the report said.

ELLERMAN HOUSE, CAPE TOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

The second favoured hotel by these high-net-worth individuals was also in South Africa – Ellerman House in Bantry Bay, Cape Town.

A top boutique hotel, Ellerman House is situated in Bantry Bay in Cape Town, promising magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean. With just 13 rooms, residents are treated to privacy and tranquility, making this a hotspot for the rich and famous that is known for its jet-set appeal.” the report revealed.
