Most parents want the best for their children and finding the perfect school is usually at the top of the list. In a recent update on the placement of grade one and eight learners for 2024 revealed which schools parents are trying to get their children in for grade one.

WHICH SCHOOLS DO PARENTS FAVOR

As expected demand far exceeded the space available to accommodate them. Some primary’s received applications six times higher than required.

  1. Laerskool Akasia
  2. Palmridge Primary
  3. Laerskool Rachel De Beer
  4. Alston Primary
  5. Stoneridge Primary

All the schools within the top five received over 1000 applications but can only accommodate around 200 children.

Laerskool Akasia received the highest number of applications with 1476 but can only accept 146 learners for grade one.

UNPLACED LEARNERS

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane, in his media briefing also revealed that there are over 30 000 grade one learners who are yet to be allocated a place for 2024.

Chiloane has assured parents that all children will be allocated and that they will be in school next year.

“Schooling is a constitutional right, and as a department we will comply meaning that every learner will be offered a place at a school”, says the MEC.
