Club confirms they sold striker to Kaizer Chiefs not Orlando Pirates!

In what was one of the longest transfer saga’s of the current transfer window, it is now official that Kaizer Chiefs have beaten Orlando Pirates to a striker!

This comes after Marumo Gallants confirmed, on Friday, that they have sold striker Ranga Chivaviro to Chiefs, who beat Pirates to his signature.

Now in what has been a protracted transfer saga involving the two Soweto giants, Chiefs have finally beaten Pirates to the signature of Chivaviro. After a stellar season which saw him score 17 goals in all competitions for the now relegated side, Chivaviro was initially linked with a move to Amakhosi, before that quietened down and it was then Sea Robbers who were starting to make ground on getting his signature towards the end of the season.

It was not long before it was reported that Chiefs were set to meet the representatives of Chivaviro, in an effort to beat other rivals, including Pirates to his signature. After some time passed, it was reported the Pirates were back in the lead for the player, before another report soon after, claimed that he would prefer not to sign for the ‘Happy People’ because they already had a multitude of forward options.

This came after news suggested that Pirates had already agreed a double deal worth R9.5 million with Gallants for both Chivaviro and Katlego Otladisa. But it was soon clear that not all parties were on the same page. It was then not too long before reports came out to say that Chivaviro was already spotted at Naturena doing his testing ahead of pre-season with his new teammates.

GALLANTS CONFIRM CHIVAVIRO TO CHIEFS DEAL

Now in a media release from their social media page, Gallants confirmed that they have sold three players, including Chivaviro and Otladisa to both Chiefs and Pirates respectively. Here is the full release below.
