Re-marking and re-checking of NSC exam scripts deadline and fee

The Department of Basic Education has reminded candidates looking for re-marking and re-checking to proceed before the deadline.

The hype about the release of the matric results has begun to phase out this week, but some candidates may be dissatisfied with their marks and may be looking at channels for re-marking and re-checking their results.

DEPARTMANT OPENS PLATFORM FOR RE-MARKING AND RE-CHECKING

The Department of Basic Education has informed candidates via its channels should they feel like remarking and rechecking would possibly better their marks.

“Candidates can apply for the re-mark/re-check of their examination scripts at a prescribed fee. You can view your results, make corrections, or recheck them,” the department advised.

WHO CAN APPLY

The payment for re-marking and re-checking for the 2023 academic period are as follows:

  • Re-marking =R116 per subject
  • Re-checking = R29 per subject
  • Viewing = R220

“Note: candidates may apply at their school/ centre where they sat for their 2023 examinations,” the department notified.

It also notified that the results for remarking will be released on 15 March 2024 and will be available at the school or exam centre where the candidate sat for their examinations.

“If the learner is still dissatisfied with their results after having it re-marked or re-checked, they can register to retake the exams or improve their results,” the department further advised.

MATRIC CLASS OF 2023 WARNED AGAINST UNACCREDITED REWRITE CENTRES

Meanwhile, the Education Department in KwaZulu-Natal has warned matriculants to not fall victim to unaccredited matric rewrite centres.

“The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Education (KZNDOE) wishes to inform and caution members of the public against registering to write their Examinations at unaccredited private centres or institutions,” KZNDOE warned.

“Candidates are urged to visit the UMALUSI website to access a list of all private institutions accredited to offer any UMALUSI-associated qualifications. Alternatively, you can call UMALUSI on 012 349 1510 and press the relevant options,” the Education Department advised.
