SASSA grant recipients to collect cash at stores or ATM

SASSA grant recipients in KwaZulu-Natal have been encouraged to withdraw their money from ATMs and retailers.

Following Tuesday’s warnings from many Post Office branches in the province about potential cash shortages, SASSA grant recipients in KwaZulu-Natal have been encouraged to withdraw their money from ATMs and retailers.

On Tuesday, grants from the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) will be distributed to seniors. Usually, pensioners can withdraw their grants at post office locations, but this month, those in KwaZulu-Natal might not be able to do so.

Postbank spokesperson Bongani Diako said some post office branches in KwaZulu-Natal expected running out of cash due to delays in cash deliveries.

WHERE ARE THE SASSA GRANT BENEFICIARIES EXPECTED TO COLLECT MONEY?

“SASSA grants beneficiaries in the KwaZulu-Natal province who are due to be paid their social grants starting from Tuesday are urged to collect their Sassa social grant money at ATMs and retailers that include Boxer, Pick n Pay, Spar, Shoprite and Usave instead of SA Post Office branches,” Diako said.

According to him, those still using SASSA gold cards won’t run into any issues with retailers or ATMs because they function just like any other bank card.

KZN POST OFFICE BRANCHES WILL ASSIST WITH OTHER SERVICES

“The cards can be used to make both in-store purchases and withdrawals at the cash register in retail establishments. Post Office locations will be open and functioning in KwaZulu-Natal to provide recipients of social assistance with SASSA non-cash services including PIN resets,” he said.

The South African reported that the October payment cycle for the South African Social Security Agency will start today.

The elders receive their grants first as usual. On the days after that, other grants recipients can pick up their grants.
