
Some Cape Town areas will experience a 10-hour power outage
The City of Cape Town will perform critical maintenance on the electricity infrastructure this week, causing a 10-hour power outage.

The City of Cape Town’s electricity and generation teams will carry out a 10-hour power outage in Athlone to maintain essential electricity infrastructure.
If all goes as planned, they will perform the maintenance work from 8:00 to 18:00 on Thursday, 14 August, causing interruptions to the electricity supply.

The City of Cape Town notes that interruptions to the electricity supply will only affect the highlighted area on the maps and will only occur on the specified date.

POWER COULD BE RESTORED ANYTIME
Moreover, the City of Cape Town has warned that electricity supply could be restored at any time and urged customers to treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the planned maintenance work.
“Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution and to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on. The City apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their cooperation and understanding,” the metro municipality said.
