STATE REQUESTS CONSOLIDATION OF BESTER CASES AND POSTPONEMENT

After faking his death, the 37-year-old convicted serial rapist escaped the privately-managed prison in May 2022. A dozen people have now been arrested in connection with the escape.

On Wednesday, the State asked that the three men be joined to the main matter, and asked for the case to be postponed.

BAIL INFORMATION

The three G4S employees, who were arrested on Monday, intend to apply for bail. However, the State needs time to gather information and decide whether they will oppose the applications.

Accused number 10 faces a Schedule one charge, and Accused 11 and 12 are charged with Schedule 5 offences. The charges include assisting an inmate to escape from lawful custody, violation of a corpse and corruption.
