However, she has allegedly changed her will after she felt neglected by her adult children. Instead, she is now said to have found ‘companionship and comfort’ in her pets. Ms Liu was reported to have insisted that after she dies, all her money must now be used to care for her pets and any of their offspring, instead of going to her children as initially drafted.

However, a judge is said to have ordered the toy to inherit only a fraction of her fortune. This comes after two of Helmsley’s grandchildren who were excluded from it ‘for reasons known to them’ contested the will.

Helmsley’s grandchildren were reported to have claimed their grandmother was not of sound mind when she made the will which was allegedly drafted just two years before she succumbed to heart failure.
