Given Msimango says Kaizer Chiefs will not afford to suffer defeat in another Soweto Derby against Moroka Swallows this coming weekend.

The Soweto giants are set to lock horns in an eagerly anticipated DStv Premiership clash at Dobsonville Stadium but Msimango wants a win.

Chiefs are still licking their wounds after losing to Orlando Pirates prior to the FIFA international break and losing to Swallows will be a bitter pill to swallow for Msimango.

Under Cavin Johnson’s guidance, Amakhosi are also looking to return to winning ways as the coach will also hope to evade his third loss in charge of the team.

“Of course, we have not been in a great run of form of late but in the camp the spirits are high and we are looking forward to the next game.”

“We have been working hard, trying to rectify our mistakes…get the combinations right as well in every department.

The Bafana Bafana centre-back also explains why he feels they are lucky to have their match on Sunday.

He looks at the recent international recess where Chiefs had four players who were away on international assignments.

Sibongiseni Mthethwa was with Bafana, Edson Castillo went to represent Venezuela while Botswana was represented by Thatayaone Ditlhokwe and Edmilson Dove went home to Mozambique.

“We are very fortunate that our fixture is on Sunday. This helps the guys to come back, release the jetlag, have some recovery, and to have time to have a few sessions before Sunday,” Msimango adds.

“Playing on Sunday really plays to our favour but this is a game of football, you can’t bank on those small details. You need to go on the field and perform as a team.”
