Kaizer Chiefs could be set to dip into the January transfer window to strengthen their squad, after news in interest in a European striker have surfaced.

Chiefs’ worries in front of goal have been well documented, with interim coach Cavin Johnson being very vocal about the lack of finishing from his side.

KAIZER CHIEFS HAVE HAD A GOALS PROBLEM

The worrying factor should be the fact that both of Johnson’s predecessors at Chiefs in Molefi Ntseki and Arthur Zwane, have both raised the same concerns. At the beginning of the current campaign, the clubs management clearly heard the concerns of the previous campaign and sought to reinforce the strike force with two new strikers.

Chiefs brought in two strikers in Ranga Chivaviro from Marumo Gallants, as well as Jasond Gonzales from Colombia. The two have not had the desired effect so far at the club, with Chivaviro only scoring two goals in an injury ravaged first season. That being a far cry from the 10 league goals he scored last season and 17 in all competitions. Gonzales on the other hand has completely failed to get going at all, having no goal to his name yet in South African football.

NEW STRIKERS MISFIRING

With Gonzales joining Chiefs on a loan deal that features a break clause, there has been heavy rumours that the player maybe sent back to his native during transfer window. That would then open a space for the club to register another foreign striker and according to Soccer-Laduma, they already have their sighs set on Robert Polievka.

“There will be changes in terms of playing personnel. It could be this transfer window period or at the end of the season but Robert (Polievka) is one of the players that the team is already looking at. This is not the first time as three years ago the scouts identified him but things didn’t work out because he was changing teams, But now they have reopened their interest as their European connections and scouts are working on that. So, yes, these are some pointers on the renewed interest in Robert (Polievka) from the club,” said a source to the same publication.

Johnson has insisted numerous times that Chiefs won’t enter the transfer market as he feels he needs more time coaching the players he has at his disposal. Polievka is current playing in his native for MFK Dukla Banska Bystrica.
