Bafana Bafana star Khuliso Mudau has become the latest Mamelodi Sundowns star to attract European interest.

While there was a lot of talk of teammate Teboho Mokoena being in demand abroad, Mudau has joined the list.

Mokoena hogged the headlines with his standout performances for Bafana Bafana at the recently concluded Afcon. His form has since seen linked with AS Monaco in France, as well as AFC Bournemouth in England. The first player in the national team set up to be linked to the English Premier League, however, was Mudau.

Those rumours seemed to have come from nowhere, however, with there being very little evidence of Burnley’s interest in Mudau. But it seems all is not lost for the marauding right-back, after his impressive performances at Afcon. The Sundowns star was one of the players who coach Hugo Broos entrusted to start every match in Ivory Coast. More times than not, he rewarded the Belgian tactician, as well as the nation with consistent top drawer displays.

It now seems that Mudau has impressed more than Broos and the nation, but rather a club in Broos’ nation. According to The Citizen, Belgian side FC Genk are interested in signing the former Black Leopards star from Sundowns!

NO BURNLEY BUT GENK MOVE IN THE PIPELINE FOR KHULISO MUDAU?

“I think the AFCON gave a lot of people a clear picture of what South Africa is all about. I was surprised when I heard that a team from Belgium wants Mudau. You must remember that Mudau comes from Black Leopards and he is not a big-name player, that’s why I’m surprised. “But I’m glad that he is getting this attention, especially from a club like Genk. It can change his whole life, especially his career. So, I’m just crossing my fingers that those guys (Mamelodi Sundowns) make a deal with them (Genk).” Said the Bafana Bafana camp insider.

It would be great for Bafana Bafana if the likes of Mudau and Mokoena could capitalise on their Afcon displays. If they’re to do so, however, it is believed that they won’t come cheap, as Sundowns would rightful demand top dollar.
