The Leopards, playing in the Currie Cup First Division, have reportedly announced the addition of former England and Springbok assistant Matt Proudfoot to its coaching ranks.

This is according to a report on News24, who reports that Proudfoot was officially unveiled as the newly appointed as head coach of the Potchefstroom-based outfit on Monday.

Proudfoot was in charge of Maties when they marched into the semi-finals of the 2023 Varsity Cup, and most recently served as a deputy coach to Allister Coetzee with Namibia at the Rugby World Cup in France.

The 52-year-old was previously a member of Springboks boss Rassie Erasmus’ successful 2019 World Cup management team and worked under Eddie Jones with England after that.

The former Scotland international, who matriculated from Potch Boys’ High, represented the Leopards 56 times at the senior level.
