Orlando Pirates were thought to be close to be wrapping up a new signing ahead of the new season.

That plan may just be interrupted by an overseas club, however, if Pirates don’t move quickly to finalise terms.

It has been no secret that Pirates have been interested in Shaune Mogaila, a long-term target now available for free. The speedy winger recently parted ways with former club Royal AM. It is reported the split came after the two parties could not agree on a improved terms for a new deal. Waiting on the wings, is believed to Pirates, who are club wanted the player even before he joined the Durbanites.

This publication reported just on Monday that Pirates and Mogaila were close to an agreement for next season. But in football, it doesn’t take long for things to change with the latest update possibly making the Buccaneers nervous. According to The Citizen, they could lose out on the player to Norwegian giants Valengra FC.

VALENGRA SET TO HIJACK ORLANDO PIRATES DEAL FOR MOGAILA

“Those guys are keen on signing him. I mean, they are very serious about him because this thing all started last year during pre-season. They spoke with Mogaila’s agent, but nothing came out. I think it was because Royal AM were also trying to renew his contract. But, they didn’t know that Mogaila was already being pursued by Valengra.” Said the source.

The source went to add that, it could be more appealing to Mogaila to move to Valengra due to his age.

“It is a great opportunity for him (Mogaila) to play overseas, plus Norway is not a bad league. I think if he gets a good deal he will definitely go, he doesn’t have anything to lose. I know that Pirates and AmaZulu are also interested in him, but the best move for him would be to go overseas because he is already 28-years old. Not many players get such an opportunity (to play overseas) at that age. So, he is very lucky.” Concluded the source.

Will Pirates fight tooth and nail to get Mogaila, or will Valengra’s efforts prove to strong to turn down?
