The Rugby World Cup 2023 is heading into the crucial knock-out phase with these TWO teams having secured their spots in the quarter-finals.

A look at the latest pool standings makes for interesting reading with TWO sides having booked their place in the eagerly-anticipated quarter-finals.

RUGBY WORLD CUP 2023 QUARTER-FINALISTS TAKE SHAPE

Wales have won their opening three matches at the Rugby World Cup.

Meaning, they will finish in the top 2 in Group C. They are likely to top the group given that they face Georgia in their final fixture. Fiji will likely join them as they face Georgia and Portugal in their final two fixtures. Their win over Australia has caused Eddie Jones men to be on the brink of a surprise group stage exit.

In Pool D, England have also secured their spot.

Argentina and Japan set to battle it out for the second spot in this group.

FRANCE, NZ, BOKS AND IRELAND CLOSING IN ON QF BERTHS

In group A, France will book their spot if New Zealand beat Italy on Friday, 29 September 2023.

While NZ just need to beat Italy and Uruguay to set up a likely blockbuster quarter-final against Ireland.

Finally, in Group B it is a three horse race between the Springboks, Ireland and Scotland.

The Boks are heavily favoured to reach the quarter-finals with their final fixture against Tonga. A bonus-point win will see Jacques Nienaber and Siya Kolisi’s men go up to 15 points. With Ireland (14) and Scotland (5) set to still play one another.
